You can receive messages, voice notes and make calls from within the studio using the ‘Studio 1 Internet PC’ - which has a touchscreen.
The Internet PC screen should look like this, with WhatsApp & Mixcloud displaying side by side:
People can message or voice note the studio by WhatsApping 07729 720 708.
They can also comment on the Mixcloud Livestream at shockradio.co.uk/studio.
If the Mixcloud chatbox has not been reloaded in 12hours, it stops showing new chats, if you think it isn’t showing the latest messages you can reload it by clicking the reload button at the top of the screen.
To play voice notes out on air, simply put the ‘Int PC’ fader up, make sure it’s on, and click the PLAY button on the voice note message.
Previewing voicenotes:
To preview a voice note before playing it on air. Press the ‘PREVIEW’ button and make sure the fader is down. It should look like the image on the left:
You can then play the voice notes without the listener hearing them.
You can have virtual guests on your show using the Internet PC as well.
WhatsApp is our preference for this.
Start by tapping the PHONE icon on the left hand side of the screen. Which will bring up this menu:
To start a new call, click ‘Call a number’ and then dial the number.
The call recipient must use WhatsApp.
When they answer, they will hear the Shock Radio On Air feed.
If you want to talk to your guest during a song - make sure the Int PC fader is DOWN - then press ‘PREVIEW’ and ‘SOFT’ at the same time, as seen here.
This will mute the studio speakers and allow you to talk to your guest.
When you are ready to put them live on air, put the fader up all the way to the top and turn it on.
