Creating Your Own Imaging
Shock Radio encourages presenters to develop their own imaging. To support this, below you will find a Google Drive folder containing a variety of resources you can use to create personalised station imaging.
Everything in this folder can ONLY be used on Shock – This means that you can use ANYTHING that we have put inside of this Folder for your Shock Radio shows. These cannot be used on any other stations OR for assessed University work.
If you require any assistance in using the assets provided, or would like anything uploading to Zetta– Please contact either the Head of Station Sound or the Head of Radio.
Shock Radio Imaging Template
All Shock members have access to the Shock Radio Imaging Template, originally provided by WizzFx and later adapted by Matt Hallsworth (Head of Radio and Podcasting, 2024/25).
The template can be found in the Members Assets Folder, alongside a range of other imaging assets available for member use.
Power Intros
Power intros are highly encouraged at Shock.
A helpful YouTube tutorial is linked below, which explains how to create power intros step-by-step:
The tutorial uses Adobe Audition
Adobe Audition is available for free to all students at the School of Creative Arts and Media
The video is long — skip to 6 minutes and watch until around 38 minutes
Radio Jingles & TOHs
Creating radio jingles and TOHs (Top of Hour IDs) for your show is straightforward.
Members can choose to use:
Templates – quicker and easier to use
Beds – allow more personalisation but require more editing
Both are available in the Shock Members Imaging Assets Folder.
This tutorial also uses Adobe Audition, which is free for all School of Creative Arts and Media students.
Members Liners Requests (VO Requests)
Shock aims to provide members with as many opportunities as possible. Throughout the year, Members Liners Requests are opened.
This allows members to request custom lines from Shock’s Voice-Over (VO) Artists for use in their shows. Requests usually receive both a male and a female version.
VO Requests – What Not to Ask For
The following lines have already been recorded and are available in the Shock Members Imaging Assets Folder:
“You’re listening to Shock Radio”
“This is Shock”
“Manchester’s biggest student radio station”
“The Sound of Salford”
VO Requests – What to Ask For
Appropriate VO requests include:
“You’re listening to (Your Show Name) on Shock Radio”
“This is (Your Show Name)”
Names of your show’s features or segments
Please note: VO artists volunteer their time to support the station. Requests for rude, offensive, or inappropriate lines will not be voiced.
Uploading Your Own Imaging
When uploading your imaging to Zetta, please place all files in "INBOX" and follow the required naming conventions. Items not following these standards may be deleted during routine system maintenance.
