Spots
Spots are used at Shock Radio as another alternative to a sweeper. They are short pieces of audio, usually featuring a sound effect, and typically include a brief line such as “This is Shock.”
Spots are designed to be quick, simple, and impactful, helping to reinforce Shock Radio’s branding without interrupting the flow of a show. They are most often played between songs or during short transitions where a full sweeper or stager is not needed.
Stagers
Shock Radio has a wide selection of stagers available for its members to use during their shows. Stagers are typically short audio beds with a voice-over (VO) liner layered on top.
At Shock Radio, stagers are most commonly used between songs, often replacing a sweeper, or at the start of a show if a presenter chooses not to use a Top of Hour (TOH) ident. They help maintain flow, reinforce station branding, and give shows a more polished, professional sound.
Sweepers
Throughout your show, sweepers will play between songs. A sweeper is a short piece of audio branding designed to remind listeners of the station they’re tuned into. You also have the option to create custom sweepers for your show (details on this are included below).
Top of Hour (TOH)
Each show includes an automatically scheduled Top of Hour (TOH) ID. To select one that best suits your show, navigate to Hotkeys → TOHs. A TOH plays at the beginning of every show to remind listeners that they’re tuned in to Shock Radio. We’ve created a wide range of TOHs to match the tone and style of nearly every programme. View examples of imaging here.
How to use a TOH
The Top of Hour (TOH) plays at the start of your show.
The TOH includes a build-up with voiceovers (VOs).
Example: “From University House, the Sound of Salford, this is Shock Radio.”
After the TOH finishes, you should begin talking and introduce your show.
You will normally have around 30-40 seconds of talk time after the TOH.
All TOHs in Zetta are intro-markered, which provides a countdown indicating when you should start speaking.
Mandatory Usage Guidelines
Breakfast and Drivetime Shows: Presenters must use either their personalised TOH or a station STAB at the start of both hours of their show (immediately after the news). These can be found in the Breakfast/Drivetime Hotkey Bank.
Anthems Shows: These must use the designated pre-made TOH, available in the Shock Anthems Hotkey Bank.
All Other Shows: There are no strict requirements to use TOHs or stabs; however, we highly encourage presenters to incorporate them for a more polished sound.

Creating Imaging
Shock Radio encourages presenters to develop their own imaging. To support this, we have created an entire guide on how to make various pieces of imaging, as well as templates that members can adapt to use on their own shows. You can find that page HERE.
Show Specifc Notes
All of Shock Radio’s specialist shows — including The Shock Sports Show, The Shock News Podcast, FEM FM, and Shock Radio Anthems — have their own dedicated imaging. Each show is provided with a personalised Top of Hour (TOH) that matches its branding, along with a variety of sweepers designed specifically for that programme.
This tailored imaging helps each specialist show maintain a polished sound and establish its own unique identity on Shock Radio.
If you are producing one of these shows, all relevant imaging can be found within the show’s dedicated hotkey bank.
The Shock News Podcast:
Please export the Shock News Intro from Zetta and import it into your editing software before publishing the episode.
FEM FM:
Only female-only imaging should be used. This includes sweepers voiced exclusively by Shock Radio’s female VO artists.
Promos in shows
Occasionally, a promotional audio piece will play at the start of your show.
These promos are used to advertise events happening around Shock Radio or to promote other relevant content.
If a promo appears in your show, you must play it.
Promos will be no longer than one minute.
